Royal Visit: Harry & Meghan's 3-Day Tour in Nigeria

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, have embarked on a three-day visit to Nigeria, commencing with a heartwarming reception at Lightway Academy in Abuja. Amidst cheers and embraces, the couple, supported by their Archewell Foundation, emphasized the critical importance of mental well-being during their inaugural mental health summit.

In poignant speeches, Prince Harry underscored the need to destigmatize mental health issues, highlighting that it affects everyone, regardless of age or background. Meghan echoed his sentiments, urging open dialogue and self-care among the youth.

The royal couple's itinerary, at the invitation of General Christopher Gwabin Musa, Chief of Defence Staff, also champions the Invictus Games, an initiative close to Prince Harry's heart. Nigeria's recent participation in the games, culminating in a historic gold medal win by Peacemaker Azuegbulam, underscores the event's significance.

Their visit extends to Kaduna, where they offer support to injured service members at the Nigerian Army Reference Hospital. A volleyball match between Prince Harry's team and the Chief of Defence Staff's team adds a lighthearted touch to their Saturday agenda. Later, Meghan co-hosts a "Women in Leadership" event alongside Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, director-general of the World Trade Organization.

In Lagos, the royal couple meets with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and participates in the "Giants of Africa" basketball clinic, promoting sports diplomacy and community engagement.

The tour culminates with Prince Harry's heartfelt commitment to wounded servicemen during a meeting with Governor Uba Sani in Kaduna. Their interactions and engagements throughout the visit symbolize a bridge between nations, fostering global support for the noble cause of honoring and uplifting military personnel.

As the Duke and Duchess of Sussex bid farewell to Nigeria, their legacy resonates in the hopes for continued advocacy and solidarity for those who have sacrificed for peace and security.
